Pizza Math
Pizza is a fun way to explore the concepts of fractions, but rare is the family that can afford to practice math this way very often! For less expense and less mess, try these fun activities featuring the circle cutouts from our Printables Page.
1. For simple lessons, just print out and color the fractions. Assign problems either verbally or written down.
2. Print out the pages of pizza toppings and glue on toppings for each fraction. Example: "Bob baked a pizza and cut it into 6 pieces. 2/6ths were topped with cheese, 3/6ths with pepperoni, and 5/6ths with onions." (Our Printables Page features traditional toppings as well as funny ones take your pick!)
3. Print out circles that have equivalent fractions, cut out "slices" and show how different fractions can actually be the same. Example: Print out the "thirds" circle as well as the "sixths" circle. Cut out one third then place it over two of the 1/6th slices to show that they are equal
4. Print out multiple circles to practice improper fractions as well as addition and subtraction of fractions.
5. Cut out individual slices from differently divided circles and use them to add and subtract mixed fractions.
The possibilities for activities featuring pizzas and fractions are almost endless send us your ideas!
